...Later that Day....

So I woke up this morning with the first two sketches in my head and immediately drew them. I haven't drawn men in pumps since '92 so everything old is new again, I suppose. The first "Belasco" imagery I produced when I got started was a lot more androgynous, mind fuck stuff, but then again, the early 90's was still coming off the ambiguity of the late 80's, so I guess the art I produced then was the residual effect. The hyper masculine/ explicitly sexual stuff didn't come until a few years later, coinciding with all the DL crap that descended like Burbank smog over black gay cultural life. I feel that with my change in the direction of my artwork, including who and how I draw, the smog is finally lifting. Hopefully for black gay culture as well. I'll step down off my well-worn soapbox now. Enjoy!

It's been great watching your work evolve over the years, B. I love how you take risks, and "go there." The latest posts are hawt.
