The Stop Aids Campaign artwork

Someone made a suggestion in the comments section a while back that I post this artwork I did for a non-profit up in Northern Cali about seven years ago (boy, time is like the wind...). It was a fun project overall and turned out very nicely in print with a cd of music by my friend, Tim'm West. A very nice campaign from beginning to end and if I can find the pamphlet the art was used for in the finished piece, I'll post that too. The final drawing in the set included below had to be doctored heavily in the final printing of the brochure by obscuring the figures having sex (which I thought was the whole point of the campaign!)for reasons I'm not sure of. Most likely the person cutting the check was sex-negative or someone on one of those mysterious gay non-profit committees got their panties in a wad. Regardless, the final product looked nice and the people I worked with were professional and organized (which ain't always the case with non-profs...smile). Enjoy!

My suggestion that you post these, B ...
**Thrilled** that you followed-up on it.
As one of the team who worked with you on this, it was great having you participate. The images looked great then, and they still do.
The DL Project, as it was called, was a competitive proposal funded by the California AIDS Clearinghouse. I'm quite sure CAC is federally-funded, as is STOP AIDS itself. **That's** why what ultimately went to press was so heavily doctored, shadowed and cropped. The alterations did undermine the beauty and the intention of the effort, but until the government loosens up and/or HIV/AIDS education is privately-funded, such editing is what we can expect.

I'm loving your posts of the past few days ... keep making magic, my brother ... peace.

P.S. I can scan those pages from the finished product and forward them to you if you can't find your copy ... let me know.

Well i love it, i like the fact there are no need for word, the drawings tells it all.

that's what happens when art gets published by committees and bureaucrats!

even with all the edits..the images still tell the story and get the point across. there isn't always a need for graphic 'i-can-count-the-hairs-on-his-scrotum' details...but they are nice...lol

Just to be clear, fellas ...
What B posted is *not* the edited version. In the edited version, which is in color, Panel four is cropped so the beautiful bubble butt is not in the frame, and Panel 6 is darkened so that the only thing that is really clear is the condom wrapper and lube on the nightstand.

Hey Googalicious, that's a good idea sending the finished piece to compare to. I know I have some copies buried somewhere in the Belasco archives (ha!) but if you could send it, I'll add them to this posting.
